Better start eating, then. Maybe take the sumo approach to sports training? Wikipedia says that sumo wrestlers drink large amounts of beer, which seems quite promising.

Following #AIChE2025, I had one main aim today & that was to get to Chinatown in Boston & have some dim sum. Thankfully, that was successful (photographic proof attached). My only other aim is to catch my flight home & that seems to be going okay too.

I go to a range of conferences. Last week, at #EuroMOF2025 in Crete, it was metal-organic frameworks. This week it's the geochemistry of Jupiter's icy moons.

EuroMOF 2027 will be held in Lake Como, Italy. Looks like a great venue too.

Great to see an early mention of Hiden instruments @epomm.bsky.social 2025 conference in a talk by Aldo Lanza from Johnson Matthey on "Spatial resolution of catalytic automotive filters & the impact of particulate matter with SPACI-MS".

A Hiden Analytical mass spec was used to implement SPACI-MS.

And here's the beer garden of the most remote pub in mainland Britain, The Old Forge.

I've just got back from a few days in Scotland.

Here's a photo of a nice beach.

After a successful @most-h2.bsky.social project review meeting on Thursday & Friday, I took a walk into Cambridge today, before heading home.

Yes, my contributions to the field of seismic exploration have been immense.

Walking to lunch in Les Diablerets.
June 25, 2025 at 11:25 AM
First impressions of Les Diablerets, Switzerland, are good.

Add in six days of #hydrogen storage discussions & it seems it could be a good week.

The train journey today up to Les Diablerets, Switzerland, for the GRC on Hydrogen-Metal Systems was quite scenic.

I always appreciate a nicely presented coffee & this is a nicely presented coffee.

Must be Birmingham.

The #FOA15 conference dinner last night had one of the grandest venues I've been to in a while.

I'm expecting big things from the conference dinner at the upcoming UKPorMat (@rsc-pormat.bsky.social) in Birmingham. The standard has been set.

It's always good to see @hidenisochema.bsky.social instruments in the wild. This particular specimen is a Canadian IGA...

The main hall for the plenaries at #FOA15 in Porto is rather impressive.

My walk to work this week at #MEDPore2025 in Marrakech.

Amongst other things, it's been great to meet & chat more to @stecanossa.bsky.social, who also has a similar walk to work.

According to LinkedIn, my profile is "one of the most-viewed".

Wow. Like, what, in all of LinkedIn history!?! That's amazing.

I like this bit. I was going to list who used "unusual", "surprising", "abnormal" or "weird", as @davidfairen.bsky.social & @timeasun.bsky.social both went for "unusual". But I got stuck there.

There are quite a few more options. I think we need more papers on the "peculiar" behaviour of MOFs.

A nice wander around Cardiff this afternoon, after the BZA Annual Meeting.

Great stuff from @hassan-azzan15.bsky.social at the British Zeolite Association (BZA) Annual Meeting at Cardiff University. An excellent talk on modelling gas & vapour mixture adsorption in flexible adsorbents.
