At least she didn’t get her way with SCOTUS, for now anyway.

Absolutely! It’s only my second Ozu film so I’m sure other treasures await me.

I remember you saying it was probably your favorite by Ozu, Jacqui.
That certainly piqued my interest. Then it showed up on TCM as if you had a hand in their schedule, haha.

40+ years. How fortunate you found each other and had that much time (I’m at 30 years with Marvin.)
That much time together probably makes your loss much harder. I’m so sorry.
What a wonderful tribute. As a retired journalist myself I appreciate reading about him.

Definitely looking forward to those. Thanks! It’s so exciting to discover a great director that I had somehow missed.

Director Yasujirō Ozu obviously cares deeply for his characters and tells their story in tender scenes made more moving by camera work that artfully catches their expressions.
Thanks @tajiisawol.bsky.social & @JacquiWine.bsky.social for recommending I follow Ozu’s superb FLOATING WEEDS w/ this.

The outfit is fine, but I’m under the impression you’re a neat freak so I hope you cleaned up the damn room. 😂

I haven’t read the novel, but the film starring Maggie Smith in an Oscar-winning role is quite good.
If I remember, Jean Brodie is headstrong, flirts with (or embraces?) fascist ideals and is not exactly a sympathetic character.
It’s been a while since I saw it, so some recollections are hazy.

Third from last.🤣
Guess I’ll go to the bar and drink it off.
(To be fair, I was going anyway with the other half.)
