The defense secretary’s instructions, which were given before President Trump’s blowup with the Ukrainian president, are apparently part of an effort to draw Russia into talks on the war.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Thank you @rweingarten.bsky.social for taking the lead on this issue! Putting pressure on Tesla’s overvalued stock is probably the biggest way frustrated everyday Americans have leverage over President Musk.

Getting people to leave Twitter is the second biggest.

Sharing this for any of my people not following Heavy Table. The whole American experiment feels as though it's at a pivot point, and immigration is at the center of the story, as it is for so many of the food stories we cover, too.
Minnesota-based writers: we're looking for culinary pitches centered around immigration stories. Connections between restaurants and overseas hometowns, multigenerational evolution of concepts/menus, etc. all of interest. Aiming to commission a couple longer works. editor@heavytable.com
