Del Toro is, IMO, actually really good at depicting female voices and giving female characters depth, despite being a man, because he clearly views women as people. His development of the character of Elizabeth into a fully fledged person instead of merely a victim only further proves this point.

Besides the fact that every other del Toro movie I can think of DOES pass the Bechdel test, like this is not the fight you want to pick
