On a more specific note, #decarbonisation alone will not be enough to achieve 'sustainable prosperity' in Europe. Without further action on #biodiversity, for example, we will lose a key ally in the fight against climate change. Yet, the report shows that progress in this area is lagging behind 👇

In general, it is discouraging that only 21% of the #GreenDeal targets are assessed as being on track to be achieved, despite the dominant narrative that EU efforts now need to shift towards simplification, rather than implementation and (where needed) further policy action to close gaps.

This type of evidence-based amendments would *actually* reduce reporting burdens while making the legislation fit for purpose. Most of the other claims I have heard are (at best) the result of political posturing. They do little to help businesses and nothing to protect the #EuropeanGreenDeal. /end

Worryingly, the vote signals a backtracking on the EU’s own conservation successes. This could trigger further assaults on the #HabitatsDirective at a time when @ec.europa.eu is actually asking Member States to increase their ambition on #biodiversity and implement the #NatureRestorationLaw. /end

Building on that conversation, KPMG has recently published a report that discusses the importance of #biodiversity data for companies, the challenges that businesses face in navigating biodiversity measurement tools, and the opportunity of using digital twins for biodiversity monitoring. 2/n
