Recently, a paper in Global Change Biology on #covercrops & #soilcarbon made a lot of noise. We believe the analysis was flawed and biased, see our comment here:

Now published - Carbon storage in old hedgerows: The importance of below-ground biomass.

We destructively sampled hedgerow biomass in northern Germany and found a total of 105 Mg biomass C/ha, with substantial C storage in coarse roots and tree stumps.
