Another amazing black creator, D'Angelo has died at just 51 years of age. On October 14, he died from pancreatic cancer.

His voice, lyrics, performances, and demeanor shaped a generation.

Men, see a doctor and get your annuals - too many young men are dying from colorectal and prostate cancer.

Art will help us keep our sanity through the trials we are experiencing. Here's today's sanity break from a show last night as U.S. cities are invaded by our own military:

When you finally understand why Alaskans call bald eagles rats with wings.

Out on the river with friends this weekend, saw one having a fish meal. Friend came down and started yelling at it. Then another one dive bombed them while another circled above. Lol

More backyard friends: the other day, I saw a metallic insect in the soil, upside down. That was cool enough until I picked it up and turned it over.

I was excited for this "scarab" (wrong family) until I found out it's a wood boring beetle. But I live in the woods, so it just enjoys the conifers.

In order to not go crazy, I'm going to continue to introduce you to backyard friends.

Tonight's friend is a newt that got tumbled by my dog who didn't see it in the dark. After being stunned it walked away, seemingly fine. I put it near a small slug so it could snack. But not before its closeup.

The little things keep me sane. Literally. This jumping spider wandered right on to me and made my acquaintance today while I was giving the dogs a potty break. Hung out with me for like 15 minutes, just chilling on my knee, doing a little walkabout. When offered my pinky nail, took a ride.

Got to practice one of my favorite things yesterday: roaming. It's been so long and it recharges me and helps calm my brain more than anything.

I have only a few short months left here and I will miss this kind of beauty.

I made a joyful salad and charcuterie for an anniversary celebration/going away at work. Wanted people to feel loved, so I made art.

My arugula self-seeded last year and because it has been unseasonably warm, it has started to bolt already. The flowers smell sweet and have these intricate lines in the petals. They are also edible, like mild arugula. A nice way to bring some beauty into the home amidst such stressful conditions.

My kids.

I will now accept being called Bob Vila. I replaced a kitchen faucet today, and I'm replacing can lights with LED replacements and aging ceiling heat registers. Outside, there was some hedge trimming to be done. Next: window trim replacement.

There's a log coming into my neighborhood that I swear to God might secretly be the Easter bunny or some kind of forest god... Lol

My favorite tree. :)

Have had this for over a decade. More apparent now than ever.

The most beautiful apple fritter I have ever seen. I had to buy it.

There is a 100 lb lean meat toddler of a sporting dog inside this plaid donut cave.

What would I ever do without these two? I ask them with relative frequency.

These nerds are my babies for life.
