Today an overwhelmingly white Republican Party in Missouri, at the urging of Donald Trump, worked to remove this Christian minister who was active in the SCLC, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, from his seat not through trying to beat him at the ballot box but by picking his voters for him. Shameful.
He Blazed a Trail to Congress. Now His Seat Is in Peril.

I want to bump this again. This is the most important story to read. It's striking. There is still so much work to do.
A man abused as a child at a Missouri Christian camp agreed to remain silent, and took his own life. His sister and other victims’ relatives are pushing several states to ban such nondisclosure agreements in cases of childhood sexual assault.

This is 100 percent true and 100 percent depressing.
one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

I'm a logistics consultant for farms & food facilities. And I'm telling you making food is VERY profitable! Already!

So what's the real problem?

People who have the land & capital to make food would rather be real estate developers.

That's it. That's the whole problem.

The fresh horror btw: the US is becoming a net importer of food.

Which is wild, because the US has probably the most high-quality farmland per person of any country on the planet. WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE FOLKS???

Missouri HB709, sponsored by Representative Brian Seitz, would aid in nullifying NDAs that have been used in child abuse cases to silence victims.

It was approved today to move to the House floor for full consideration. Let's pass it, move to the Senate, and make it law!! #TruthCovenant #Kanakuk

10 years is not enough, expand the statute of limitations in Missouri. A pastor who sexually abused children gets to face no consequence. Disgusting

Women still seek justice despite determination that accused former pastor will face no charges
Several women are speaking out after learning the man they accused of inappropriate behavior will not face charges due to Missouri statutes of limitations.

For decades, Joe White and other Kanakuk leaders knew about and facilitated sexual abuse against scores of children, a pattern that may continue to occur to this day.
