Remembrance Day! A day to honour those who served and those who paid the ultimate price, for us. To also honour those who still serve. We remember them.

Photo collection depicting my father’s WWII service. Top picture is of his graduation class from the training base in Farnum Quebec, March 30th, 1943. He’s the one in the back row on the left. This group was made up of soldiers of different regiments. Middle picture is a Memorial Display my older brother(himself a Canadian Armed Forces Reserve and Royal Canadian Mounted Police veteran)made. It has a picture of my Dad in uniform, at age nineteen, just before he was shipped to Italy with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Above his picture is a Medal Clasp Depicting his Campaign Stars from Italy, France and Germany. On the right of his picture is another picture of Dad standing in front of a two and one half ton transport lorry during his time in Italy. It’s from a story written about him in the Swift Current Saskatchewan newspaper, after he returned from the war. Beside this picture is his record of service, list of medals, commendations and countries he served in. Below that, are two updated Clasps with silver maple leafs added depicting his medals were awarded for service outside of Canada. The lower clasp depicts his Voluntary Service Medal along with medals awarded in Holland and Belgium. Below the medals are Remembrance Day Commemorative pins and his Legion pin. Below the Memorial Display is a photo of my Dad’s Regimental Cap Badge which is a stags head with a huge rack of antlers and the inscribed motto “Cuidich ’n Righ” in Gaelic which translates to “Aid The King”, or “Help The King”.

I’m watching yesterday’s Canadian Football League Western final. My favourite team the Saskatchewan Roughriders played the British Columbia Lions. The Roughriders won the game, so move on to play in the Grey Cup championship. D’Artagnan liked all the action on the TV and stayed to watch most of the game. He didn’t stay as long when I watched the Blue Jays play Baseball during the World Series.

We left the box on the floor with the packing paper to let the cats play in it. The box is behind the wall in the left corner of the entry landing. We left home and when we returned we found D’Artagnan had moved the entry door carpet to the corner of the front entry landing. Then pulled all the paper out of the box and scattered it into the corner of the landing. As I took the photo he was checking out all the voids in the paper for something, I have no idea what. Maybe he thought there was a mouse in there.

My wife and I joined protesters today at Justin Wrights MLA office to get signatures for the Alberta Funds Public Schools petition. My wife has gathered 50+ signatures. There are over 1400 canvassers province wide and more signing up daily.
