I think the concept is to try to combat the immediacy of social media, and because their homepage wouldn’t have enough space for all the headlines.

I absolutely loathe them as a format. At very least they need to make sure the promo headline they’ve chosen for the homepage is the first story clickable in the story list.

I’ve been on a student subscription for creative suite for like 10 years. If you tell them you’re cancelling because you can’t afford full price they usually offer a retention offer of another year of it at the student price.
