Sometimes you catch it early and can bend the solution in the direction they're heading but sometimes they're so far off that there's no way to make it work and you need an NPC to show up like Clippy and go "it sounds like you're trying to solve a mystery, have you tried..."

I absolutely loved your podcast. Back when I was doing Danger Club I hardly had time to listen to any other shows but Rulelords always went right to the front of the line when a new episode came out. Your love for the game is so infectious.
