Retired. Formerly IGN’s Director of Reviews, EIC of GameSpy, and Reviews Editor at PC Gamer. Dad (so expect dad jokes). Careful: you might hear some opinions.
I am lucky that my 10-year-old is not nearly so pepper-averse!

Any pro tips for how to encourage him to eat stuff and not decide in advance that he hates it?

I wouldn't call mine ultra picky but he's 10 now and progress has been a heck of a lot slower than I expected, and there's little rhyme or reason. He'll eat a hamburger unless any type of condiment (including cheese) has touched it... but he'll eat cheese pizza or a grilled cheese. Baffling.

It was very "Have their cake and eat it too" in that respect. Not a period piece so much as an alternate reality where technology went faster but fashion went slower.

Yeah I'm a fan of not rushing things but I am also a fan of seeing another X-Men movie before I'm 50. And given the way the Blade reboot seems to have somehow died on the vine I'm not brimming with confidence.

It was cool that it was retro-futuristic - old-timey fashion and CRTs everywhere (including building-sized ones) but flying cars, competent robots, and FTL are NBD.

Apparently the 1920s Blade costumes were repurposed for Sinners?

This was the first Marvel movie I've watched with my son (though we saw Superman together in the theater a few months back). I guess now I've gotta speed run him through the whole MCU (or at least the good ones) before this time next year.

Oh, you better believe I got the hot dog.

There’s nothing wrong with criticizing a game for not doing anything new.

I’ve always felt “fans of this will like this” is pretty pointless. There’s no value in someone who doesn’t like something guessing what someone who likes it will think - I can just go read another opinion if I want that.

See my original post. It might be useless to you, but it's not useless to everybody. Advocating the censorship of opinions that aren't helpful to marketing is not an awesome look.

Again, your problem is with Metacritic, not people speaking their minds and discussing something they didn't like.

1) How does it help your games for sports games to have lower metascores?

2) It sounds like your issue is with how Metacritic works, which is fine, but none of these critics work for Metacritic. They have no reason to self-censor on its behalf and no incentive to attempt to manipulate it.

Were I your editor I would ask that you try to explain *why* you find it more boring and repetitive than other types of games you enjoy. A good critic will be able to break that down.

Why do you care how Metacritic works? What effect does it have on you?

And I do not see that observation here:
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Review - IGN

I for one would find it interesting to hear you try to engage with their mechanics and dive into why you dislike them.

I gotta say though, it’s pretty deeply weird to care about or try to influence metascores when you don’t stand to gain from them meeting an arbitrary threshold. Like, why?

Yeah we have a handful of pans we’ll need to replace but pretty much all of the major stuff has worked with the mini plug-in one we got to test it out. Easy enough to only buy induction-compatible stuff going forward!

I watched The Thing for the first time the other night and literally tried to explain to my wife who Kieth David is by referencing Gargoyles.

It did not help.

We got a mini plug-in one to test out. About 85% of our cookware works but the remaining 15% is easily the most used. Easy enough to to replace those, though.

...he wants to punish *children* for their mothers' choices that he disagrees with?

I admit I am not a biblical scholar but this seems to be to be at odds with I think all of what his whole job is.
