The good stuff
Felt the same way when everyone suddenly discovered cRPGs with Baldur's Gate 3. That said, it's great to see imm sim elements in successful games. A blockbuster licensed release like Indiana Jones leaning into game-specific design philosophy instead of opting for a "cinematic" approach is huge.

Worth pointing out that Mr Ball isn't advocating for a price hike, only pointing out that some developers (who?) would be happy to see GTA VI go in that direction. Personally, I doubt it, the whole concept hinges on Take-Two's willingness to take a reputation hit to pave the way for others.

Discovery is a nightmare. After Balatro was nominated for GOTY I was shocked by the amount of people declaring that they've never even heard of the game, even though it was easily the biggest indie success story of the year with coverage seemingly everywhere, including big non-gaming websites.

Just be advised that books 2 and 3, while still very noir, ditch the Chandleresque PI genre in favor of quasi-military sci-fi and survival thriller, respectively. The tone and the vibe remain consistent, as does Tak, but in terms of genre conventions there is some whiplash.

Better than the show. More noirish. Noir is all about our protagonist being a small, if competent, man in a big world filled with deep shadows. The books have that in spades. Even the great first season went out of its way to make Tak more of a super special boy.
