I wonder if it has actually been “streamrollered over” rather than “quietly sidelined” in favour of short term results. Whole world is very short-termist now I think. Financial challenges in so many sectors probably drive “recover mentality” which is at odds with genuine curiosity and inclusion

It is a far better city to cycle round than it used to be. I have cycled there twice from London, about 7 years apart and the cycling infrastructure massively improved.
