The second half of August will see the peak period for autumn migration of Tree Pipit. Usually detected when calling in flight, they can occur across a range of habitats on migration #ukbirding

Generally fine dry weather could mean that these migrants don’t concentrate on the coast and turn up further inland/onto the west coast. Classic time for Barred/Icterine Warblers, Red-backed Shrike, Wryneck etc maybe also an Aquatic Warbler on the south coast?

Switzerland recorded unprecedented numbers of breeding Common Rosefinch in 2023, marking a notable increase in the species' presence in the country:
Common Rosefinch on the rise in Switzerland
Common Rosefinch reached record breeding numbers in Switzerland in 2023, with 66 territories identified – up from an average of 42 in recent years. While the species remains rare in France and Britain, Switzerland appears to be growing as a stronghold for the species, which continues its westward expansion across Europe.
