you've already seen this today but i want to comment and say i love jouji and hayashi's poses the most. like i don't know man.

see the issue is if you draw wym characters in a more cartoony art style and you're emotionally invested in the way wym draws the upper lip you are at risk of kim possible lip.

it is a famiresu reader rite of passage to talk about the panels™️ but i've already seen a lot about how the framing of the shots/their backgrounds reflects their worldview, how satomi is smaller next to kyouji in his own perception vs. kyoujis so i will talk about a DIFFERENT aspect of the panels...

i could have pulled 20 other pages. the entire first bit of the manga is so hysterically funny my eyes start watering. i want to punch kyouji. nobody on earth is funnier than wayama yama.
satomi looks at kyouji with a soul-searing neutrality. he does not want to be here. "but even so, you started to feel the pressure and came to me for help, didn't you?" kyouji turns his head away, even flicking his eyes off to the side to maximize how far away he is from satomi's gaze. he is sucking on his bottom lip, looking sheepish. do NOT read karaoke iko for the yaoi cocaine. read it for this and the coming of age narrative centered on the unlikely inevitability of human connection.
heavy breathing, audible from outside room 203 in the karaoke. kyouji sets down his microphone on the table. kyouji puts his arm behind satomi's shoulder on the booth. satomi leans away subtly, but mostly seems vaguely annoyed. kyouji is wide-eyed and desperate. "how was i...?" satomi looks off into the middle distance casually. he looks calm, but like he doesn't really want to be here. "you want my honest opinion, right?" kyouji leans in with a charming smile that makes him look punchable. "of course!" he says, with a little blushing smiley face in his speech bubble. satomi, once again neutral and calm, still not looking at kyouji. "the falsetto was upsetting the entire way through. that's all." kyouji, drawn in stark, deep shadow looks shocked, horrified, and a little bit hurt by this statement. "no way...!" a panel showing satomi and kyouji's legs. kyouji is sitting awkwardly close to satomi, and satomi has his hands loosely clasped in his lap. "wait a minute!" kyouji says. "what exactly was wrong with it?!"
