And also, that is very consistent with the sixties Spider-Man, his fight with the Vulture or Sandman or whatever reflecting some domestic or work problem he was going through. That's okay!

Ah, but Raimi gets away with it because he's a genius.

She runs rings round him, and he knows it.

I think this is a streak of narcissism that has infected fiction. "How does this affect ME", with the lead characters being a proxy for the person watching at home. That's my theory anyway!

I thought for a moment during Skyfall that they were going to take a huge swing and make Silva A PREVIOUS JAMES BOND

Superman can't save the world because it's the right thing to do, there has to be a member of his family in direct peril. Batman can't solve a crime, he has to deal with something that affects him personally.

Yep. It's deeply, deeply lame shit in a film that's already full of it. But it speaks to the fad of giving all characters roots and personal stakes in their own adventures, focusing on what they are and where they're from instead of what they do.

At her right hand, Grok, the machine Musk designed to support his mission of total conquest.

No I agree! I don't think it's good either, it makes the stories incestuous. I'm just saying, there's nothing in those films that says it ISN'T the case.

Not pop music though. Imagine listening to the Beatles without earmuffs.

Yep, it's like a whole other, much better movie

This is one reason I like Moore and Dalton better than the others - Moore sent all that twaddle up, and Dalton's Bond was thoroughly sick of it.

I still get flag shagger vibes off the cunt. And anyway, I don't care about that. Let him be a man who loves his job and is good at it, he doesn't have to suck off the king or whatever

You've spared yourself three hours of incoherent misery

Anecdotally: Debs was ambivalent about Bond before Casino Royale, loved that (and Skyfall) and now likes the other Bonds as well. That's all down to Craig (and me, being a cheerleader for the series)

No, I think this Bond is a patriot, and I can take or leave that side of the character anyway, tbh. But the rest of what you're saying is wholly correct. I do think the troubled Craig Bond did cross over with a lot of people though
