And with all that …there is this terrible feeling I have that justice will not be served, maybe a minion will be sacrificed as an offering to the people but the real evil at the center of it will escape punishment because they are rich and powerful….the game is rigged and we all lost

If he took that I’d be all over that - but I’m guessing if he pots 20+ & with his overall game he’s going to be north of $5x5 - which is still not bad - but iffy
Look he’s a great player and I guy who you need to go deep, they’re just not there and when they are he’ll be past best before date imo

Of course I do - just like I know who Larry Ashley is, I totally understand that need to connect with the guys out there on the ice - it’s a big factor for lots of fans, but I’m a bit more of a pragmatic fan Ala - move KS44 instead of sign a 30 yr old long term who’s probably peaked

Of course I do - just like I know who Larry Ashley is, I totally understand that need to connect with the guys out there on the ice - it’s a big factor for lots of fans, but I’m a bit more of a pragmatic fan Ala - move KS44 instead of sign a 30 yr old long term who’s probably peaked
It’s always preferable to have guys you can pull for and think “oh man, what a good dude, hope he has success” but it’s not make or break for me - I cheer for the logo and the ongoing story that I’ve followed since 88’ hoping one day I get a happy ending to a season

My kid is in the emotional connection to me players phase - which is so cool, that’s where the life long bond comes from - I still have a huge soft spot for the guys I cheered for as a kid

I don’t get attached to players anymore - I recognize they’re people but the reality is they are independent contractors who work for a union, I never begrudge a guy for making as much $$ as they can but I don’t romanticize the bond with a player and team/fans - left that in my 20s

Thing is - why would you trade for Mcdavid? So you could win the cup …so in order to acquire him you’d have to give up a load which would probably reduce your chances for a Cup and if the response is picks …if you’re in your window those picks wouldn’t be great - that’s why those trades are gone

I don’t pretend to know how to fix things and will always love the team - just fed up with year after year of being mediocre with no real sustained “competitive window” like 09-13’ - or 91-96’ - everyone is allowed to support the team however they want, for me it’s just hard to wave the Pom poms rn

Just do something different….i was never a huge “tank” guy but this too good to be last and not good enough to contend just sucks man

💯- that’s my whole vibe with the team, even if they make the playoffs…so what? They just don’t have the make up to go deep. They’ve been so irrelevant for so long now it’s just hard to be excited about anything - 2 playoff appearances since 2015 is sad
