Jiutian takes to the sky after 6 months of delay, but was it actually just caused by failed flights??

We appear to have our first image from the ground of the curious trimaran-hulled design @covertshores.bsky.social reported on for @navalnews.com in late October.

Veracity to be confirmed, but looks pretty legit to me. Via "Syrida2887", SDF.

Not much on this new Shijian-28 launch, though the series has always been pretty low-profile.

Pretty vague all around. "Task Group 989", comprising the Type 071 LPD Changbaishan and cadet training ship 81 Zheng He, is currently heading towards Malaysia, from Vietnam. Obviously there may be other vessels underway, to say nothing of civilian flagged ships.

This is a great article. While the PLA is extremely capable, the invasion of Taiwan would be the most difficult landing operation ever attempted. There has never been an amphibious landing in the face of CDCMs. For comparison, Taiwan has hundreds of missiles and the PLAN as eight LPDs.
Taiwan highlighted its efforts in developing area denial capabilities, including anti-ship missiles, attack drones and new coastal defense forces, to counter a potential Chinese invasion of the island in its 2025 National Defense Report 🇹🇼

Incidentally, since amphibious PLAN is in the spotlight again, here's also a recent image of the new LCU compatible with Types 071, 075 and now 076.

Due to its compact size and affordability at least as consequential as the Type 726 LCAC, if not more so. Via "by78"/SDF.

So what is the speed of this morphing missile prototype? If Mach 5 or higher, that would see it placed in the hypersonic category, not 'high speed' as some media have described.
