Our study on the #genetics of black pupae in #tephritids is published @commsbio.bsky.social! A global collaboration mixing classic and modern #genomics to solve an old mystery. The findings also open new doors for #evodevo studies. Check it out 👉 rdcu.be/d7hcB
It was a pleasure to give this workshop once more with @physaliacourses.bsky.social. It's always a great experience! Hopefully I will see you next year for the 4ed!

✂️ Want to use #CRISPR in ecology and evolution?🧬

Join us for this course with @danifpaulo.bsky.social and learn to design, plan & analyse Cas9-based gene knockouts — focused on non-model organisms in ecology & evolution.

First the "woolly mice" 🐭, then the "dire wolf"🐺. I hope the next one is the "Chicken-Rex" 🦖. This nice article in Rolling Stone also talks about the responsibility science has to these new technologies and discoveries 👉 www.rollingstone.com/culture/cult...
12,000 Years Later, Dire Wolves Are Back
Scientists at Colossal are breeding dire wolf pups, back from extinction after some 12,000 years.

Little late for #FlyDay, but here's an unusual New World Screwworm fly (Cochliomyia hominivorax)—the species I studied during my PhD. This is a mutant for the yellow gene created using CRISPR/Cas9—the first successful genome-editing in this non-model species (👉 doi.org/10.1534/g3.1...)

Insect domestication causes genetic diversity loss and drives differentiation. But how fast does it happen, and can we ease it? We show #Anastrepha flies differentiate quickly in the lab with little diversity loss. WT infusion benefits young inbred lines more than old ones: doi.org/10.1111/1744...
