By obstructing ambitious political changes, it enables those who benefit from the status quo to protect their powers and privileges.

Progressives should always understand that the rule of law is the last and most crucial line of defense in the struggle for justice. A term like "libertarian socialism" makes sense only if taken literally to indicate that within classical liberalism is a rational kernel that must be saved.
