Hello everyone.

I've been feeling pretty demotivated and burnt out with creating content for a couple of months and I think it's time for me to take a break.

I don't know when (or if) I'm gonna come back but I'll keep you posted 🫂

If you were to nail down the number one reason why you feel that you have "no time", which of these would come closer?

🔍 Focus
🏠 Chores
🦜 Distraction
📚 Organization

These past weeks, I've been loving a Zen mantra I read on The Art Of Simple Living.

"Look for the new in the old", it's so refreshing to find a new flower, tree, or person in the same 15-minute walk I've been taking for the last 5 years.

Getting a job in game development is not as easy as just learning the craft, getting an interview, and landing a position...

It comes with so much emotional burden that I felt the need to make a video about it ❤️‍🩹

Do you have anything exciting that you want to share today? It doesn't have to be big, I just want to see what you're up to 😁

In my case, I'm pretty proud of the hangman-like react web I've recently coded

Quick game development tip:

Take a look at your timelines and double them. Predicting how long a task will take is impossible, so give yourself room to breathe.

If you are a game developer and you're running low on budget, you need to when one of these...

This is my most powerful tool and it only costs $10 🤑

What's your opinion on the "games should be cheaper/more expensive" discussion?

I kinda of agree and disagree with both sides but always come to the conclusion that for any price change, the ones who looses are both the developers and the players. Pretty amazing, uh?

One of the biggest mindset shifts I've been having recently is to stop fighting emotions and instead start cooperating with them.

I feel trying to take a decision WITHOUT emotions is just as bad as taking it only by them. The idea is to work together with what you feel.

Hey friends 😁

I've just finished the last course I wanted to take about full stack development and I'm officially starting to build my very first web app.

I just wanted to drop by to say that I'm looking to connect with other developers/communities, I'd love to chat 💙

Let's say that you want to start on game development this year. 🎮

If we were having a conversation about it over brunch, this would be exactly the advice I'd give you.

If you could go back to the past knowing all you know now about game development now, the good and the bad... would you still choose this industry?

I'm gonna be honest here, I wouldn't

Can we pause for a moment and talk about why we programmers talk in such a complicated way?

It drives me nuts to read:
"This technique increases the overall model's reactiveness for the stakeholders"

Instead of f*cking:
"This way the web responds faster for the users"

I know how crazy it sounds to be a game developer and still have time for other hobbies, exercise, relationships, or (God forbid) resting.

But I feel that if we protect our most valuable resource—time—we can make video games without feeling stressed.

🎯 Feeling stuck with your projects?

I was too. Turns out, my motivations were all messed up. Here’s what I learned (and how I’m fixing it) 👇

What's one concept about game development you saw completely different the moment you became a developer yourself? 👀

Mine is tutorials, for sure. I used to dread them, but now I love them

Tell me yours 👇

If you are a leader (or have someone leading you, really) "Nine Lies About Work" is a must.

I have yet to find a book that covers more real and to-the-point problems in collaborative work environments.

🎮 Being a game developer is all about... messing up.

I’ve deleted databases, broken games, and made NPCs look like ghosts. 😅

For 2 years, I feared losing my job every day. But here’s the twist… I wouldn’t trade those mistakes for anything.
Why? 👇

✈️ Quick story: On a flight from Madrid to Edinburgh, I tried distracting myself from my fear of flying by reading Nine Lies About Work.

Here’s the idea from Chapter 4 that completely flipped how I see work and life: 🧵👇

Let's share what we're working on right now 🚀

I'll start:
• New content production pipeline for the next 90 days
• Data integration on my newsletter
• Not dying

What about you? 👀

Quick Programming Tip 💡

If you write a function that may throw an exception, give a null result, or just not execute under certain conditions. Add the prefix "Try" to its name.

• GetPlayerCamera: Always works
• TryGetPlayerCamera: May not work

Over my first two years as a game developer, I made so many mistakes that I thought I was about to get fired (and I eventually did). 😭

Today I want to share the biggest five and the lessons I learnt from them.

🚨 Game developers, let's talk about crunch culture.

Why do we feel pressure to overwork? Is it internal, external, or both?

And more importantly—how do we fight back without getting burned out? 🧵👇
February 19, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Being the ONLY one who's not crunching can be the worst in game development. 😨

Dealing with a company that encourages crunch culture can be quite a conundrum.

Today, I want to try to disentangle it a little bit.

The past few months have been a rollercoaster. 🎢

Unemployed, in rehab, and totally off social media. But guess what? It led me back to something that’s changed my life: journaling.

It’s simple, powerful, and backed by science. Here’s why you should try it too. 📝👇
