Over the last few months I've been developing some performance work through an Artist Residency at Dance City. It's been a really powerful and valuable period of reflection for me on Tourette Syndrome, rhythm, and disability aesthetics, and I'm looking forward to sharing more soon!

I'm really excited to be facilitating a remote roundtable of provocations with these folks. Why not come along, and see what the future of interdisciplinary TS research holds?

My ADHD assessor told me that Tourette Syndrome doesn't exist in adulthood and so obviously I raged. Turns out he did it just to see if I showed signs of 'justice sensitivity'. I was diagnosed with ADHD, naturally... 😂

I'd like to bring attention to the fact that this device is now available to pre-order for an eye-watering £500, with no returns allowed if you decide that self-administered electrocution isn't your cup of tea. People are desperate for relief and I worry how many will bankrupt themselves over this!
To some extent this is a film about being free to tic, yet concludes in a documentary styled advert for self-administered electrocution as a means of 'controlling' tics. Why is everyone so unwilling to engage critically and call out sub-humanising practice? We don't have to settle... 🤐
Something doesn't sit well with me, seeing the same people in the Tourettic (Read: #TouretteSyndrome) community who publicly accuse social media creators of faking tics whilst simultaneously being excited about a non-Tourettic actor *acting* #TS in the new "I Swear" film...

Tomorrow marks the start of my #Dance Residency with Dance City. I'll be exploring #urban #affect and its impact on the Tourettic body, and considering the value of tics in performance spaces for translating experiences of #TouretteSyndrome! 🕺

Here's to making art! 🌟

This is how it feels to research Tourette Syndrome. My resilience is starting every single publication/presentation (in medical, social science, humanities and arts spaces alike) with "Tourette Syndrome is categorised by motor and vocal tics..." or something similar. 🫠
Academia rewards resilience, by which I mean the ability to rewrite the same sentence forever

Hi BlueSky. Here's your semi-regular reminder to stop calling people 'dumb' (or things like this) for their political views... or *anything* for that matter! Your ableism is not excused just because you identify as left-wing. 🫠
