2-0 vs Luxembourg

In Manchester for City-Dortmund.

I'm expecting fireworks, no less.

Interesting to see how Dortmund's defence copes with Haaland and Co.

Also, one has returned to socials following a two week break (mainly because of the international break). But I also ran the GNR run for a good cause after being out injured for 3 months. If you wish to donate to CALM, you can do so here - ajbellgreatnorthrun2025.enthuse.com/pf/daniel-pi...

Bournemouth have lost their defensive core that saw them secure their highest ever Premier League finish (9th) last season, but I don't think there's too much cause for concern.

Still worrying that there's no news on the Bundesliga rights. However, I did DM the Sky team on the other platform and got this response. Odd how they say 'new' since they've shown it exclusively since 2021. And more worrying that there's still no announcement, or sign of one.

34 goal contributions (22G + 12A) in 48 games for Eintracht Frankfurt last season. Leads the way for npxG/90 (0.68) in the Bundesliga last season, and is in the 96th percentile for progressive carries and successful take-ons.

Borussia Dortmund getting ~€65m from Chelsea for Jamie Gittens, I think is excellent business. Obviously has a high ceiling, but just doesn't suit Niko Kovac's style of football, and played a bit-part role towards the end of the season. Started just 5 of 12 games in the Bundesliga under Kovac.

The football still doesn't escape me. OFI Crete's Theodoros Vardinogiannis Stadium (It's extremely run down). They'll be playing at the Pancretan Stadium from next season.

Holidaying in Crete, but somehow I just can't escape German football.

What a tremendous job Niko Kovac has done at Borussia Dortmund. Champions League football looked nothing but a far-fetched dream when he took over from Nuri Sahin. 22 points from a possible 24 to finish their season.

Picked some day to run a marathon 🥵 5:00:00 on the dot. Not bad in the hills of Leeds and Otley with groin pain from 20km onwards.

That second half of Inter-Barca was just pure cinema.

Koln had a chance to go 8 points clear of 4th with a win today. Hamburg also lose. Wins for Kaiserslautern, Karlsruher and Hannover today. The race for promotion in the 2. Bundesliga, as always, is one to watch.

Borussia Dortmund could not have wished for a better start. 1-0 up and numerous chances created. Frantic start.

Borussia Dortmund are *somehow* holding on. Although it was to be expected with that XI. It's all Bayern Munich so far.

A nice 18km trail run in the hills this morning prior to work to get the blood pumping. 5 weeks out until the marathon 🏃‍♂️

Bayern Munich with 10 shots in that first half, but Alexander Blessin's St. Pauli playing incredibly well.
March 29, 2025 at 3:32 PM
It's all been Borussia Dortmund since going 2-0 down, but they just can't put the ball in the net; an xG of 2.02 in the second half.

Yesterday was spent at a campervan and motorhome show in Harrogate, and now all I want to do is buy a van and convert it.

That was probably one of Bayern's best performances this season, but Leverkusen's implosion helped massively. A goalkeeping error, sending off and penalty helped, but Sané and Palhinha spurned excellent chances late on. Alonso's first defeat vs Bayern. (Image: @transfermarkt.co.uk)

Lille playing as though they're the home team.

Khusanov (20) having a torrid time vs. Real tonight. But a reminder that he's not a right-back, and he was playing Ligue 1 football last month. And he's not getting much help from his teammates. This profile taken from the GFFN100, profiling the best players in French football last year.

An opportunity missed for Bayer Leverkusen I feel despite their domination. Did everything but score tonight. Have to ask why Alonso waited so long for Schick's introduction, and even Adli coming on before despite B04 controlling the game. But, credit to Bayern - job done and 8 points clear.

Said to myself I wanted to read a lot more this year, outside of football books - so I set myself the task of two a month.

First up was Running with the Kenyans by Adharanand Finn.

As a newby runner that ran a marathon last year, I loved this book. The Kenyans mindset to training is so different.

Borussia Dortmund's back four vs Bayer Leverkusen:

Couto has played 394 minutes this season.
Ryerson is a full-back.
Lührs (21) and Kabar (18) are making their first Bundesliga starts.

Yikes.
