Just a guy making a living from selling really good wines to likeminded people.
If you’re living in South Wales or West Wales get along to this event next weekend. Why? Because it’s taking place in Wales best food pub as awarded last week and the wines on show are simply incredible. It’s a sure way to have an excellent experience!

Finally our French selection offers everything and more. From Bordeaux to Burgundy, Loire to Languedoc and everything in between. We have it all when it comes to France. As you might expect as I live in France our sourcing reflects this!

If it’s Spanish wines you like with an international twist give the Enate wines a whirl. This is one of Spain’s largest family and privately owned Bodegas. In the Northern region of
Somontano the wines are well made and well priced. From Chardonnay to Shiraz

If it’s classics you’re after why not try Pinot Noir from Germany 🇩🇪! Baden produces both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that can surpass Burgundy in terms of quality and price. I love seeing people surprise when they realise what they have been missing…

New in we have Wine from Western Australia 🇦🇺. Cool climate wines from Mount Barker under the Risky Business label. From Riesling to Malbec this range is offer Aussie fruit but old world charm. Of you could go with classic California. Both regions offer incredible wines.

Here are some of the key wine areas and producers to look at that you might not know and I’ll start with the most niche. Nova Scotia wines. Really interesting styles of dry whites and fizz. Amazing acidity carries these wines for decades. We also have Westcott in neighbouring Ontario, Canada.

This week we launch 6 new wines into the Waitrose Cellar range. 5 wines from Cote Dor and one Red from Languedoc. The two whites are from Burgundy world famous Cotes de Beaune and three red which come from the Cotes de Nuits. My personal favourite is the Bony Gachot Nuits St George Pinot Noir.

Have you really ever wondered who the big winners are in selling wine? Have you thought to yourself that wine guy/girl must be loaded? Well sorry to destroy that myth but the only big winners in wine in the UK is HMRC and here is why.

French olive oil, Greek Figs, Italian Cheese and Spanish ham. All made in the EU with zero bullshit documents of doom to put it all together. Why the UK fucked up on one plate! Cheers from southern France on this warm summer evening…

So folks you best read up on your hybrid grape varieties and look out for still and sparkling wines made from L’acadie and Syval. If it’s red your after it’s Baco Noir!

People in the UK often say I am a drama queen on what the UK government is doing to the wine trade and how much it taxes it. So when you don’t tax it to death, this is what a supermarket like Lidi in France can do. Yes it’s cheaper than bottled water. If that doesn’t make it clear I give up!

So folks this is what’s happening in France with Champagne. The big brands are dropping their trousers like never before… let see if these offers cross the channel… it’s not the first time I’ve seen this sort of hard discounting here… one of my ex-suppliers was renowned for it!

This will be the first stop next Tuesday when we host our Second Spanish buyers trip. We are being joined by 6 independent retailers (Blas Ar Fwyd, Inn at the Sticks, Jolly Vintner, Vine and Juniper, Harris Deli, and The Whalley Wine Shop) should be fun!

In 2019 I was proud to host 6 customers across north Spain in the major wine region of the country. The trip was one of the best we have ever done. Week Monday 6 years later I excited to say we are doing it all again with another group of customers. Simply can’t wait!

The answer is simple, the government have insured wine costs more, a lot more and then don’t forget they tax the tax and then tax it again. So it doesn’t surprise me when I see this graph show very clearly what’s happening to exports.
