“Criticism of DEI statements and other criteria often conflate social and institutional values with imposed orthodoxies. Sweeping or abstract criticisms of DEI criteria fundamentally — and often deliberately — misunderstand and misrepresent this distinction.”

Our universities need both free speech and diversity protections to succeed
We need to think creatively about threats to open inquiry and ways to preserve and enhance free expression on campus. Reiterating well-worn attacks on DEI will not help in that effort.

Lorca biographer Ian Gibson describes Federico’s great uncle Baldomero as an “improviser of malicious ditties, expert guitarist, and notorious tippler [who] ‘sang like an angel.’”

"¡Sería un honor para mí ser como él!" Federico would say.
