[SPOILERS] #Nashville

Okay, this Altman film is still a masterpiece and still relevant today (actually, *very* relevant today). Is the ending about our resilience or our short attention span? Why did the assassin shoot Barbara Jean? So many questions. #film #movies #filmdiscussion #cinephile

Twitter used to host some bracing performance art pieces, like this one: Coffee Dad. He'd tweet things like "Getting coffee," "Second cup of coffee," "Coffee break," etc. Then, every once in a while, he'd gut punch you with something like, "Always wear a helmet when driving. I miss you so much, son"

It does look like what you'd expect a MAGA or alt-right person to wear. But maybe that's just a way for this guy to move undetected! Also, there's the new report, which has now been walked back (sorta), about the ammo being engraved with anti-fascist and pro-trans statements. No one knows anything.

Okay, THIS is posted on Twitter now, when the game is tied, in the 4th quarter, with two minutes left to play.

Twitter is the worst, even if it's dumb predictive technology has my team winning. #TheU

Agreed. Maybe we need to wait a few days before breathlessly predicting how this all is going to go.

I wish Richard Yeselson was here on @bsky.app, so I wouldn't have to copy-and-paste his tweets this way. But he's 💯 % correct on this topic.

Fair enough. And yet, OTOH, at least some folks are beginning to acknowledge that we haven't seen the widespread impacts predicted, at least not yet. See, e.g., @mcuban.bsky.social, over on Twitter. If doomsday predictions haven't yet materialized, we ought to admit it and explain it.

Okay, this is at least an attempt to explain why prices haven't gone up, as predicted. And while it just seems businesses are kicking the can down the road a bit (at a steep price) maybe that's enough, as it affords add'l time to make policy adjustments that could avoid the worst impacts of tariffs

First impact I've seen, on my little corner of the USA, of the #Trump #tariffs

"Due to recently imposed U.S. tariffs ... [we] unfortunately ... [must] temporar[ily] suspend[] ... orders to the United States."

*Best case* outcome? Good grief, what's the *worst case* outcome?

I'm drinking their limited "Wild Jesus" brand this morning. Since I started working with a personal trainer, I have up sugar / cream in coffee, and I'm coffee-addicted, so for me, it *has* to be good to drink it black. Dark Matter Coffee is fantastic.

Okay, lol, I get it. Apropos of nothing, I just read a good book about Ted Bundy! It's called Bright Young Women. It tells the story solely from the perspective of the women who Bundy harmed. The idea is that the press made Bundy out to be a handsome, smart fellow, and that narrative needs to change

I've never been much of a poetry fan, but this passage, from #TheBeeSting, by Paul Murray, is about the best argument in favor of reading poetry that I've seen. And this is a good novel, in the early going.

Ring notification we just received about #ICE in our neighborhood, at the Coral Gables Sr. High School. I have no idea how reliable this report is, but it's distressing. #Trump #MassDeportations #Deportation #USPolitics

And regardless, *this* is a lot of the reaction you'll see starting immediately. Maybe there's more nuance to what's happening, but voters don't often focus on that.
