“Do a Riot fist bump!”

It’s my 2nd week out here in the Pacific Northwest installing hardware for clients.

The other day I got to visit @riotgames.com in Seattle!

This was an awesome experience. I’ve been a League player on-and-off since 2011, and I started playing VALORANT this year.

My upcoming 2-week trip is now a 3-week trip!

My team and I at Technology Sandbox will be installing new hardware at a handful of sites in the Seattle/Portland region.

I'll be in the area from Sept 14th to Oct 2nd.

If you're Seattle or Portland, let's meet up and talk games!

So my new job is cool.

I’m still working on games, but now I’m also a part-time IT Technician for Technology Sandbox.

I do low-voltage installations, and my first project was a bunch of Wingstops.

I wanted to quit at first, but I held up. Grit is good for working in games right?

That's a wrap for #G4C Festival!

I'm really happy I came to volunteer.

Coming back to this building reminded me of the reasons why I started my Game Designer journey.

It was a pleasure meeting my new connections.

Until next time, Games for Change!

Day 1 of volunteering for #G4C - my recap:

The arcade setup was impressive, and there were a lot of great games to play.

I facilitated sessions of Legless in London, a tabletop game made by Focus Games Ltd

I’m looking forward to what today has to offer!

Yesterday I was tech lead for Waffle Games 8.0, a free games conference in NYC.

We had industry talks, game demos, and tournaments with @riotgames.com

Most importantly, I got my waffle 🧇 (we had only 1 waffle maker).

I haven't used Twine since college, but I've always wanted to come back and make a polished, text-based game.

Below is a snippet of another project I'm working. 👇🏼

I can't say much, but I'm happy to say I'll be doing a lot of economy and progression system design. 🙂‍↕️

I updated my portfolio's "Project Dreamscape" page at the top with the latest information + contributions.

I also added a new section at the bottom, "Quest Categories & Criteria System".

The result shows that on the first round players only need to focus on the completing the objective, which I predict will reduce confusion.

Next, I'm working on designing the quests themselves to reinforce the mechanics we teach them in our game's tutorial.

To ease players into the game, the system starts with no Quests but introduces them as players progress.

The system also sorts quests by difficulty and presents them to players if they meet certain criteria.

⚙️ From an engineering perspective, the time complexity is O(n log n)
March 30, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Using what we had, I focused Quests on 1 of 3 areas:

➡️ Skillful play, for practicing the basics and improving technique.

➡️ Aspects (player abilities), for practicing combos. Aspects are like Boons in Hades.

➡️ Events, for providing a bonus challenge based on the round's objective.
March 30, 2025 at 3:41 PM
The gameplay is divided into waves ("rounds"). Currently, our game will select 3 random Quests each round that the player can complete for in-game rewards.

Quests are optional, but they're displayed below the mandatory objective for completing the round itself.

Day 5 of #GDC25 is a wrap, marking the end of a long week.

If you spoke with me these last two days I probably said, “I did everything I set out to do”.

I showed up, made new connections and strengthened existing ones. And I had a great time through all of it. 🙂

Day 4 of #GDC25 complete. We’re near the finish line!

Today was all about the expo hall. We demo’d DreamScape to the public at the NYS Pavilion.

I ended the night with 2 events: the Unity Educators Mixer and the @prgda.net Boricua Meetup!

I’m all done with day 3 of #GDC25!

The highlights of my day were reconnecting with some of my old classmates who are all thriving in this industry.

That, and meeting one of my professional connections in person for the first time.

Day 2 of #GDC25 is a wrap.

I went to the Climate Crisis Workshop and ended the day with 3 social events 🎲 🏳️‍🌈 🪩

I met up with some fellow @prgda.net scholars and even won a raffle for and MTG booster box!

I guess I play Magic now?

Day 1 of #GDC25 is a wrap.

Today I got to put some faces to names for people I’ve only known on this platform.

Other than that, I did tourist things like getting up close to the golden gate bridge.

Just hours after landing in San Francisco, I attended Day of the Devs.

It was a warm welcome back to the city, and a prelude to #GDC25

The highlight of my day was @wearegameheads.bsky.social members recognizing me from 3 years ago!

It's confirmed: "Project Dreamscape" is officially named "Dreamscape" 💫

You play as a fast-asleep dreamer who battles against their inner "dreamons" in a subconscious world.

We combine hack-and-slash combat with building mechanics to deliver a new kind of experience within the roguelike genre!

I updated my page for "Project Dreamscape" to share my latest contributions. Here's what I did:

✅ Removed the 'Play' button from the project card

✅ Replaced the header GIF with a steadier one

✅ Added a summary and 2 new sections that share my design processes

I've just finished setting up my #GDC25 🟪 profile.

In the last 2 months I've reached out to colleagues and new connections about meeting up. If you're one of those people, I'll follow up this week!

I'll be there from the 17th-21st. If you're going and want to chat, DM me and I'll try to make time.

Portfolio update! 💼👇🏼

Since Sept. I've been in a team of 70+ developers at the EGD Collective working on a new game, "Project Dreamscape".

While it's not finished, I've begun to add content to my portfolio page ahead of #GDC25.

Over the last 2 months I had a blast playing Sea of Stars by @sabotagestudio.com (all the way to their "Flimsy" Easter Egg!)

I made an interactive model that simulates the progression of any character's specific stat from level 1-30.

One month away from #GDC25.

Last time I made it thanks to @prgda.net and found community at the Cafecitos meetup hosted by @latinxingaming.bsky.social.

I'll be returning a more experienced Game Designer ready to contribute to that supportive environment.

Who else is going to GDC? Let's meet up!
