I’ve bought some more books. The only time I read Shakespeare was at school so I think it might be nice to read these without having to analyse every word.

I’m not sure about the Hamlet book as it is described as a radically new text of Hamlet, so we shall see.

Last night, while reading Giovanni’s Room, I came across the line seen in the square brackets. It has really stuck with me today and I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Having finished A Month In The Country, I am now starting Giovanni's Room. My first introduction to James Baldwin was watching a clip of the Baldwin-Buckley debate at the Cambridge Union. Everything was said with such eloquence and knowledge that meant I had to read his work.

Well that's book one finished. As everyone says, it is a masterpiece. It is a tender novel reflecting on a period of healing and community. The painting, acting as a countdown to the end of the book, becomes a conversation between Birkin and the painter.
