Research Associate in the Blacklow Lab at Harvard Medical School. Study mechanisms of protein adhesion and signalling using Cryo-EM.
Published today in Cell Chemical Biology, our Cryo-EM structure of PP2A/B55α with IER5 and identification of IER5 structural homologues SERTADs using structural bioinformatics. Congratulations to Aster and @blacklowlab.bsky.social authors!

Molecular mechanism of PP2A/B55α phosphatase inhibition by IER5
PP2A serine/threonine phosphatases are heterotrimeric complexes that execute many essential physiologic functions. These activities are modulated by a…

Great to see our work on protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) and IER5 featured in a recent review by Peti and Page labs. Particular focus on our work identifying structural homology between IER and SRTD proteins using a conserved alpha helical hairpin motif. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Combining cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) with orthogonal solution state methods to define the molecular basis of the phosphoprotein phosphatase family regulation and substrate specificity
Protein phosphatases are dynamic enzymes that exhibit complex regulatory mechanisms, with disruptions in these regulatory processes associated with di…

Cuts in NIH research grants will have a lasting negative impact on science and medicine in the U.S. Grants will continue to fund specific research costs, but essential infrastructure like labs, advanced equipment and support staff are crucial for groundbreaking work.

It’s nice to have a feed filled with science rather than all that other stuff. Hope it stays that way.

Earlier this year we published functional profiles of all 33 adhesion GPCRs in signalling/biosensor assays. Led by recently graduated Drew Dates, we found a dichotomy of tethered agonist dependent and independent receptors.
