Company-wide day off today, time to (finally) start editing photos from a recent trip! This is about 2/15 days... so much good stuff to go through

The tail of a distribution is always interesting... like whoever decided to give The Witcher S04E05 a 10 on IMBD!

Voting for the @opentelemetry.io Governance Committee elections is now open! If you're eligible, head to vote.heliosvoting.org/helios/elect... and cast your vote! It takes 2 minutes, but make sure you go to end until you see this screen otherwise your vote doesn't count!

Power to the people! ✊

Spoken word gig at @edfringe.bsky.social, small audience, active participation. Got asked what I do. Panic. Observability Architect would be wtf so conversation moves on to open source... And just like that I got a poem (and a great performance). Thanks Brian! Go watch him at the Royal Scots Club!

Let's just not forget how we learnt about the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012! Fabiola Gianotti, who later become Director General at CERN, was a good sport for April Fool's a couple years later home.cern/news/news/ce...

I've recommended the Peak Design camera clip before for those that like outdoor photography, to put on your rucksack strap. I just got the Pro Pad and this is a game changer to clip it to a belt for street photography. So much more comfortable, and it feels way more secure too!

I know it sounds like a cheap excuse but I swear I was en route to a PB at next week's Edinburgh half before I decided to change jobs, go to conferences in two different continents, and catch a nasty flu in one of them, all in the space of a month! It was kinda fun tho...

What a nice surprise arrived in the post today! Practical OpenTelemetry is now available in Japanese!! 🎉

I love the quote taken from the book on the front cover "use the right signals for the right purpose". Still important!

As ever, I think my body required a 10-hour sleep after KubeCon... Luckily this time it was just a 4h train journey away!

Thanks to all that dropped by the #OpenTelemetry Observatory and brought their insights, to the maintainers that led meetups, and of course to everyone that helped organise!

It's taken me a while, with a COVID episode in the middle, but I'm back in the VO2 50s after recovering from a long injury!

It doesn't matter if you're 8, or 38, the sense of wellbeing after finishing a Lego set remains the same

I'm as excited about DeepSeek's efficiency, performance, and openness as the next person, but...

Is YouTube trying to tell me that both storm #Eowyn and #etcd are a "danger to life"?

I was thinking "I might just be getting back to normal energy levels after the holidays" so I checked Garmin body battery history. Some real facts right there about Christmas, board games and NYE... Worth it though!

Went out for a wee walk up Caerketton and Allermuir hills. Almost caught a full rainbow over Edinburgh! 🌈

I thought this was supposed to be a roast not some of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me ☺️ Although not sure I'd trust this with a total population of 137 posts...

Precisely the strategy of @jeremycorbyn.bsky.social and many others in EU. Successful, but promptly met with the full force of media moguls to bring down their political personas with deception. Wide adoption of free press is a pre-req for a true socialist agenda, and that in itself is really hard!

Not sure if this will help with the jetlag after having just arrived, but I did get to cross a few landmarks of my list!

If you see this, post a concert picture you took...

#Khruangbin at the O2 Academy in Brixton, Dec 2019. Funnily enough, I had tickets for their gig in Glasgow this Friday, but alas I'll be talking about OTel in Salt Lake City! 😅
