Wow, did Trump and the Doge boys cut wingnut welfare benefits that severely?

If frogs had wings, they wouldn't have to bump their bum on the ground all day.

Totally legit fear and I don't know how much upside there is on ratings. But they have seen how far the ratings can go down, so I am hopeful they'll spend.

Very interesting! It appears that the brass considered last year to be a bridge, but the Sox played better than expected. A nice bump in NESN ratings ensued. They want that to continue, so they need to spend and 80M could get them what the team needs.

After the debaucle in Georgia, the Koreans are wondering why they invested so many $$$ in the US. China is watching and saying no f'ing way until the moron is gone and his party is wrecked.

The auto industry is big in Ontario but nowhere else in Canada. Given the high cost of gas and cheap electricity, EVs should rule Canada.

Carney needs every other province to say "F Ontario, we want cheap BYD Sharks and Zeeker 9Xs."

Moose is right. It didn't work then.
October 3, 2025 at 12:58 AM
I get what you have been saying. With half the ev-only range of the Shark, it's not competitive worldwide. They would have sold well here as Toyota's plug-in Rav 4 proves, but maybe not as profitable as an ICE Ranger. Short-sighted at best
October 2, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Ford should have built a plug-in hybrid Ranger. They would have buried the Tacoma (and I loved my old Tacoma). 40-50 miles of ev range cover most people's commutes and gas engine eliminates range anxiety especially in rural areas.

And a rear wiper. 😉

The legacy makers pissed away their ... legacy. Tons of Ford, VW, Subaru, and Toyota owners were primed to buy EVs. Some even bought the sub-par offerings at first. Ford and Toyota, especially bad, given how much $ Ford threw at EVs and Toyota's early lead with hybrids.

Aviation is hotly contested, but I liked their approach and thought that they would survive.

If you didn't listen to it when it came out, David Roberts did a great Volts podcast with the CEO (may have been last year.)

My daughter lives in a town with a socialist municipal electric utility. Her rate is half what the big corporate utility charges in my town in the same state.

The only "good" thing about the corporate is that the rates made it easy to decide to install solar panels 7 years ago.

I loved the Valley Advocate in Western Mass and the Boston Phoenix. Both had outstanding coverage of the political and music scenes in their areas. Charlie Pierce wrote for the Phoenix back then.

Whatever happened to apprehending dangerous gangbusters? Every minute spent pursuing law-abiding immigrants means fewer resources to go after real criminals. Is MS-13 no longer a threat?

Are you in Canada?

I wouldn't be surprised if you reduced tariffs on Chinese EVs and started to import all the cool BYDs, Zeekrs, XPengs, etc. Are used US Teslas making their to Canada yet?
May 16, 2025 at 12:11 PM
It's roughly the same cost in Boston, but some towns around here have municipal utilities that are 1/2 the cost of Eversource. The numbers work for us due to our solar panels.
May 16, 2025 at 2:01 AM
They are. My pet peeves are ev reviews by legacy ICE journalists that don't mention charging speed or that most charging is done at home. Also would it kill them to do quick and dirty cost $/mile numbers at various electric rates. For many people, home electrons are 1/2 the cost of gas.
