The longer the letter, the more you’re equivocating. Get right to the point in the first sentence.

“You should admit XYZ to your program because you’d be an absolute idiot otherwise.”

Then make your case, and conclude.

Everyone gets strong letters. Write a memorable letter instead.

I advise people to follow their calling. I wouldn’t advise anyone about any particular career without knowing more about them. If pressed, I would mention that many local town governments are under financial pressure and library budgets are being squeezed, so don’t expect to job security or $$$.

Every culture I can think of has its own version of thanksgiving, for exactly that reason. The fact that we trace our holiday traditions back to colonial events is a red herring.
