@marklevinenyc.bsky.social and I say vote yes on 2-3-4-5 for more affordable housing in nyc!

Late2this, but wanted to say that Mamdani is supports a fast track for affordable housing (as q2 will do) and ending Member Deference (as q5 will do!). I hope he endorses the proposals at the next debate!

Also Mamdani's #1 endorsee, Brad Lander, supports the proposals!

I don't think people understand that this isn't a gotcha or a way to trick the system as much as... the correct way congestion pricing advocates want people to respond to incentives.

Less cars in (lower, but eventually all) Manhattan means everyone wins.

@josephpolitano.bsky.social does any of that crude oil generally feed into NY-21? would be a shame if the price of gas increased there in say, the first 90 days after a trump presidency...

of all the absurdity here, I think I get most hung up on "change" being a euphemism for "bad". These people have no ability to asses potential positive impact.

thinking about this @noahpinion.blogsky.venki.dev quote a lot this week. Rogan and "the man-o-sphere" are sometimes more the real world than Touching Grass.

i know we shouldn't be surprised, but congestion pricing is the exact kind of let-the-free-market-decide policy that republicans *should* be in support of. All users should pay for the resources they consume. But because of the urban <---> suburban/rurals political split, it gets left-coded.

The whole point of having a council is to avoid the ability of the minority to influence the majority. This idea that any one individual, without needing to give a reason, has the ability to block new housing for hundreds of new yorkers is utterly preposterous.
November 14, 2024 at 7:33 PM
The money from congestion pricing is nice, but the real benefit is less cars in the densest ZIP codes in the country. Lowering the price not only reduces income, but also minimizes the threshold for New Yorkers to make different commuting decisions. "saving new yorkers money", is not the goal.
