I've had to make so many tough decisions this year. I couldn't just dump and donate these, especially knowing there's such an interest in sewing/needlework items. I did keep all the things she made, including these doll clothes I recently found (for the doll she made me when I was a kid)

A member of our town's fire department died suddenly and our entire community is stunned and heartbroken by this loss. Capt. Gary Menard was known even to many of the kids (including mine) for his work with the schools, Scouts, and drug prevention programs. We lost an amazing person and firefighter.

I love that, though! How cool! Only my great-grandfather was a pharmacist in our family. It was on this corner in Greenpoint. I recently found this archival photo of it and was so excited!

Fun fact: my Grandpa Maurice negotiated the very complex real estate land deals on behalf of the Army Corps of Engineers that enabled them to build the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Pretty wild to drive over that piece of NYC-family history.
