In the very early days of motherhood I was up late nursing & saw a fascinating documentary on PBS about the history of mosquito control in the Twin Cities.

In the 1920s they would just pour mercury on Lake Minnetonka each spring to suffocate the mosquito larvae. Yup.

In 2018 Tim Holden was running for mayor of StP. He came to our block party with an uncut 🍉 & a bunch of his tenants who were his campaign volunteers. He gave me the 🍉 & told me to cut it in the hopes that while I was engaged he could hand out literature (which I had told him he couldn't.)

There were a few all ages "bars" in the '90s that catered to the recovery crowd. There was a fun one up on White Bear Ave and a very short lived one near the Hair Police in a basement. Hopkins had one, too.
