50501 San Jose remains committed to non-violence. 50501 is a peaceful movement dedicated to positive change through nonviolent action. We are proud to create a space where everyone can feel safe to be seen standing up for their values and have their voices heard. This includes families with small children, people with disabilities, the elderly, LGBTQ+ communities, and people of color. To be clear: Weapons are not permitted at any of our events. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence, threats of violence, or the suggestion of using weapons, or property damage in connection with our movement. Our mission is rooted in peaceful advocacy, and we will not allow actions that endanger protestors, bystanders, law enforcement, counter-protestors, journalists, or any other members of the public that may be present at our event. In all of our events, we have worked in accordance with local law as it pertains to local gatherings and protesting. Please do not confront counter-protestors, agitators, or law enforcement. It is important to ignore baiting attempts and walk away. If asked to disperse by law enforcement, please do. We urge everyone to remain peaceful, and committed to the principles of nonviolent action. 50501 stands for justice, progress, and the power of the people - peacefully. As Trump sends our National Guard and Marines to stand in the streets of American cities, understand that this is what fascism looks like. As ICE and police officers respond to unarmed, nonviolent protesters in full riot gear with tear gas, batons, and rubber bullets, understand that this is what fascism feels like. As Trump and his social media mouthpieces try to blame this escalation on anyone but themselves, understand that this is what fascism sounds like. When ICE raids your community and kidnaps your neighbors, understand that this is what fascists do. What is happening in LA is not a distraction. It's a test run for the rest of the country. It's a threat to all Americans that our rights are on the line. We call on all who will stand against this tyranny to stand with us. Hi, I'm an organizer for San Jose 50501. All organizers are already in communication with each other, and we do collaborate. However, this is a decentralized movement. We want to have protests in a variety of locations to increase attendance, and some planning must be done locally for this to work.

There will be a a 50501 protest in San Jose, CA on Saturday March 8th in honor of International Women's Day. This event will emphasize Women's Rights, but everyone is welcome to attend and bring posters/flags for their favorite causes! Let's take back our Democracy from fascists and billionaires!
