I also miss when slashers put their whole budget into the kill effects. Terrifier, for being way too much for me, gets it. Give us some good kills and we'll forget the bad stuff.

Gang, you're making a dumb slasher. Embrace the dumbness. Trying to write thinking characters in a movie that falls apart if you think about it for 10 seconds doesn't work.

The goal is a good monster and enough attention from the public domain IP to make back the budget.

What's worse than a cheap budget with dumb meatbags is a cheap budget with "smart" meatbags. Characters acting like they're too smart to be in this movie when they absolutely are not.

There's a certain feel to all these cheap cash-grab horror movies. Like they all came out of the same box. They really put in perspective what other people call "sh*tty horror films". Like, there's subpar, and then there's this stuff. Cookie cutter horror.
