So he’s decided to ignore constituents by claiming their complaints are a “political ploy”. I’m tired of those who dismiss others’ opinions as merely “political”. It’s not always true. This is about basic human values, morals and ethics & I don’t care which party is guilty. It transcends politics.

Whenever he refers to other people, he means those like himself- rich, powerful people. He never ever means the rest of us. He just never thinks of us. Ever.

I am not surprised by this at all. Unfortunately, as you correctly point out, our perceptions of personal safety are what politicians love to play upon. Just look at how simple homelessness has unfairly been linked to crime and a lack of safety. And perceptions tend to drive policy, not reality.
