For those asking if I’d seriously blow off the Champions Classic, the answer is a resounding yes.

Game #14, the second of five in a row this week, is the return game between Iona and Princeton. Xaivian Lee won the front end in the final seconds last year at Jadwin.

Not exactly a quiet court, but anytime I can get this view of my favorite place in this crazy little game, the mystique is preserved.

A blessed good evening from the most magical place in the world.

Off and running inside the cathedral of college basketball. You can have MSG, Hinkle, wherever else you’d like to nominate. This place will always be special for me, and a blessing.

Back to business, AJ Levine scored first for Penn, Anthony Finkley tied it for St. Joe’s.

Not many places get me awestruck, but the way a lot of people in my native New York get when they walk into the Garden, that’s me with The Palestra. I haven’t been back since 2018, so that makes this even more special.

PHILADELPHIA — Every religion has a sacred pilgrimage. For college basketball purists, it’s this 8,722-seat marvel.

Game #13, hoops as it was meant to be played, a #Big5 battle between Penn and Saint Joseph’s. Monday night Mass is served at 7:00. #FightOnPenn #THWND

Before I head back to New York, here’s a morning after postgame hit following last night’s #UConn win:

Ross atoned for the third foul with his second three of the night.

Here’s the aftermath of that after Kevin Young ripped a 30. #UConn

I’ll just let the crowd tell the story here. #UConn

Off and running in Boston, where Rob Wright — who Hurley admitted gave #UConn a hard time at Baylor last year — strikes first before Tarris gets forced into a held ball on the first Husky possession. It’s probably about 75/25 for the crowd split.
November 16, 2025 at 12:12 AM
BOSTON — The last time I was up here, #UConn scored 30 unanswered points on the way to a Final Four and another national championship.

Game #12 is my first look at the third-ranked Huskies this season, as No. 7 BYU visits Storrs North:

Off and running in New Rochelle, where Iona has an alternate black jersey for the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Gaels’ last with Nike before switching to Adidas. That year ended with a #MAACHoops championship.

No score through the first minute.

The first two schools besides my alma mater to credential me and open their doors to me play one another tonight for the first time in 20 years.

Game #11, a long-awaited meeting between Iona and Fordham:

Off and running in Newark, where even in an intimate gathering, the fans in the baseline courtside seats are standing at the tip. Monmouth couldn’t get a shot off, and Stephon Payne drew a foul on Seton Hall’s first offensive possession. #shbb #HALLin #FlyHawks

NEWARK, N.J. — First time in a long time that I’ve gone through the first week of the season without seeing Seton Hall. That gets fixed tonight.

Game #10 (already?) comes from the Rock as the Pirates welcome Monmouth, who won here last November. #shbb #HALLin #FlyHawks
November 13, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Off and running on the Main Line. Villanova worked almost all of the shot clock yet again before a Perkins triple just off dead center was too strong. Sacred Heart’s entry inside was denied, and Lindsay just broke the seal with a three straight away. Let’s have a night.

Happy Tuesday from The Finn!

Making my third trip of the year down here tonight for game #9, as Villanova looks to build off the win over Queens on Saturday, hosting Sacred Heart. #NovaNation #WeAreSHU

Off and running in Piscataway, and Rutgers needed just 22 seconds to get on the board, doing so on an Ogbole dunk (his first points of the year after being shut out vs. Rider) set up by a beautiful entry pass from Francis. Maine’s road blue uniforms are pretty sweet too. #RHoops
November 10, 2025 at 11:33 PM
For the sake of diversifying coverage, an earlier tipoff and a chance to see how a young team follows up a promising debut, I’m back at the RAC tonight.

Game #8 of the young season welcomes Maine on the banks to battle Rutgers. #RHoops #TheKnighthood
November 10, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Off and running on the Main Line, where Villanova worked the shot clock in its entirety to get a Matt Hodge layup. Queens just made the Wildcats take all 30 seconds on their next possession too. The Royals played a man/matchup zone hybrid to perfection there.

The final leg of a marathon today.

After a 12:00 football broadcast on Long Island, I’m in the Finneran Pavilion press box for game #7 and a southern bureau crossover as Villanova hosts Queens University.
