As I think more about the design of the creature in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, I keep thinking about this quote from Mary Shelley; Victor’s initial reaction to the living creation.

“His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! —Great God!”

As a lover of literature, I adored Ian McEwan’s What We Can Know.

As someone who could perchance call themselves a historian (on a good day), I am definitely going to have an existential crisis thanks to this.

If you needed any other motivator to see the new film “One Battle After Another.” This film is a masterstroke in tension, humor, and ridiculing hateful ideology.

The grandeur of Portugal. From the vast expanse of the North Atlantic to the Medieval cityscapes of Porto and the terraced vineyards of the Douro Valley. For a country the size of Maine, everything in and surrounding Portugal can seem unimaginably grand.

To me, he was just “Uncle Bob.” Some of my earliest childhood memories are all thanks to Robert Redford. Thanksgiving at the A-frame or holed away in the Mouse House, Pete’s Dragon on VHS, everything that you could hope for at Sundance.

This really has been an extraordinarily strong year for books and it’s all thanks to writers like Jinwoo Chong, Stephen Graham Jones, Rob Hart, and Taylor Tracy!

Sad to see this becoming more and more common. This popped up when I was looking at getting some books from the UK.

If able, please support small businesses and keep reading! 📚
