Honestly excellent point on the cocky isn't bad. A lot of people like to frame the idea of being confident and sure of oneself as "bad," when like?? It's not bad at all to have that kind of mindset.

Magnai is a very fun character beyond just memeing he can't get laid.

Anyway, as a fellow Magnai enjoyer, yes, good points. I know it's easy to flanderize him, especially since the writers like to point out those points. But he never truly felt mean-spirited.

Magnai never screamed incel to me at all. At "worst," with big quotes, he's just a bit dense. He never shows to demean women who rejects him.

He's got a bit of an arrogant streak, as we saw when we first met him, but man I'd be a bit cocky too if my tribe won such a big competition on the Steppe.

The design idea was basically a man who, for all intents and purposes, was forced to grow up too fast, even into technical godhood. Losing his family was as much emotional maturity as it was a physical journey.

But no matter what, that good nature never dies. He is a man with a heart of gold.

Daikisho's now a man grown, whose been told mixed things about his power. That it's a blessing from Azim, that it's a curse from a past life, that it was something he always had, ect. But despite everything, he tries his best to use his abilities for what he thinks is right.

A simple potion brewed from the ashes of a Phoenix was drunk by a very young Daikisho. And that basically kickstarted his "divinity" awakening, to give him the strength to continue, until he made it to Reunion and found his new family in the Malaguld tribe.

With his father killed in front of him, and his mother trying to hold back the Garleans that were trying to take Daikisho in their "care," he was bid to flee. And while he ran far, he was still so far from freedom; the Azim Steppe. He was found by an outcast Xaela, who changed his life.
