Good morning and happy #EYDC2025!

Day 1: Which country's dramas have you watched the most of goes to Japan, which is something I absolutely would not have predicted at the start of the year. But Japan put out some damn good dramas this year and four of my five top fave dramas are Jdramas.
I didn't pick him but he's a great choice, he blew up this year and has the talent to back it up #kdrama
Q: Fave actor discovered in 2025?

A: Choo Young Woo. He was absolutely great in everything I saw him in this year–The Tale of Lady Ok; The Trauma Code; Mercy for None; and Head Over Heels. And that face? SWOON 💘

#EYDC2025 Day 3 - Favourite New to Me Actor.

I went through my watchlist and identified several contenders, but let's be honest, Liu Yu Ning has no competition in this category.

I had never seen him before because I'm not a big costume #cdrama watcher but A Dream Within A Dream was a revelation.

Day 3 Favorite Actor Discovered in 2025 is Liu Yuning. I remember first seeing him and thinking not much of his looks but I was 5 eps into A Dream Within a Dream when I was like hold up this man is HOT. He's that rare combo of super masculine + babygirl + funny + smart as hell 🫦🥵 #EYDC2025 #cdrama

Day 2: For my favorite actress discovered in 2025, I’m going with two people. First, Yeom Hye-ran, who I first noticed in her brilliant, award-winning turn as the lead character’s mother in #WhenLifeGivesYouTangerines. I’ve since seen her in a few other dramas and she never disappoints. #EYDC2025

Day 2: Favorite Actress Discovered in 2025: I watched A Journey to Love in 2025 and He Lan Dou was the best in a huge cast of fantastic actors. The way she portrayed the character's journey from meek and timid to total badass literally made me cheer.

Someone liked a post in this thread today and it made me want to shamelessly share it again. Especially since there is talk about recommendations for new #cdrama watchers. Sometimes starting with shorter dramas is a great way to ease yourself in.
I started a thread of my favorite #cdramas that are 30 episodes or under over on the other site, but I thought I'd move it here for those interested.

*Obviously, there are more that have 30 eps and under but these are my personal favorites*

I always find it hard to share recommendations when I don’t know what people have seen - but Alisa’s list is a pretty good general guide 👍

Here's my suggestions broken out by modern and historical Cdramas.

Finished The Dream Life of Mr. Kim and gave it an 8.5. It's the best kdrama with the most unpleasant drama watching experience I've ever had. Extremely well directed and acted and mostly well written except for one weak storyline but watching it made me feel like I was dragged through a hedge.

I just started watching c dramas this year seriously. Before I would just dabble and I can see the differences between the 2 and the appeal for c dramas. But I honestly think they aren’t that different structurally.
One of the big stories of 2025 is that even though Korea is still king of exporting dramas other countries are catching up fast, especially China. Even though I personally only loved A Dream Within a Dream, I see so many kdrama watchers wandering over to Cdramas www.reddit.com/r/CDrama/com...

Couldn't talk about this yesterday but we had to put our 20-year-old cat to sleep. Chula was larger than life, a tiny bit of fur with a huge voice who demanded attention at all times and ran us around the house. We loved her to pieces. Everything is too quiet today. #cat #cats #catsky

Currently watching 2 cdramas and only one kdrama, and all the last ones I finished are also cdramas, we're definitely getting tired of the same tropes and shorter runs of kdramas, I'm very invested on why that's happening, but I can't even explain it well myself

I went out for Korean barbecue with my family and the man sitting at the table next to us sounded exactly like Lee Sun Kyun. It was uncanny. His voice really carried and he enunciated clearly so I was able to understand bits and pieces of his conversation #kdrama

I finished #TheDreamLifeofMrKim today. It’s an extraordinary drama, with a terrific cast and some of the most compelling writing I have ever seen in #kdrama.

I hesitate to say I enjoyed it, because it’s hard to enjoy one man’s slow descent into misery. 1/
Yeah I'll definitely finish but if I wasn't watching with @rohtweets.bsky.social and Suzie I'd have to bail or risk drinking a bottle of whiskey or something.

The Great Queen Seondeok was made in 2009 and look at the difference in the appearance of the actress compared with actresses today. She's beautiful and a healthy weight but she'd be told to get lip fillers, lose 10 pounds and get the IU drip #kdrama

I found a hilarious post on Xiaohongshu from an artist management agent discussing the negotiations that go on when there's a drama kissing scene. It's literally down to "you can put your lower lip on her upper lip for 2.5 seconds" and this explains A LOT #cdrama 🔗 xhslink.com/o/2zkAvb4Z9lS

Perfect summary
The Dream Life of Mr. Kim: Probably the highest quality Kdrama of 2025 and also one of the least enjoyable watches I've had this year. It's so painful to see him get stomped by the company while he keeps twisting himself into knots so they can get a better shot at him.
