This is just to add examples because yeah it slides in a lot of places. On the US side, Mike Pondsmith has also cited it as one of the key influences on the Cyberpunk TTRPG. It's why the Rockerboy is a thing, so you could credit Johnny Silverhand to it, too.

There were a few OVAs making callbacks to Streets of Fire around then. BC ended up being the biggest, but the plot of Red Photon Zillion: Burning Night lifts even more beats down to the intro: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIg_...

There was talk about the Magic Knight Rayearth English subs a few days ago. I hadn't watched it but it's obviously transcription software within the first 5 min:

2/2 Checking CR's English Rayearth dub and yeah it's got formatting issues I've seen elsewhere. Doesn't delineate who is speaking. Formating is all over the place (magic knight/magic Knights/Magic Knights etc.) 5 minutes into the first ep and Princess Emeraude is "Princess Emerald."
