I imagine the only thing that would ever want to use it would be an RPG. Maybe if Romancing SaGa 4 ever happened they would have gone for it, with how the skill animations in 3 fuck around with SNES visuals

It's a combination of Mode 2 (column scrolling) and Mode 5 (highres), sacrificing a background layer in the process. Modes 2 and 5 were both rarely used in their own right, so it makes sense that developers couldn't come up with any uses for the mode that combines 2 niche features

i agree that this is a bad idea but jesus christ why does everyone here think tvtropes is cancer and want it dead. why. i like tvtropes, i just don't like some of the things they do

funny story: i was going to use a textbox in the first place but decided to use inputhooks instead cause i thought using a textbox would be slower and clumsier

i am thanking you a third time for all of this. i've taken this version and made it a bit better myself internally including more use of the Format function i didn't know was a thing (and using returns to send from technically one place instead of 30,000)
