Didactic video featuring two species which have declined catastrophically due to disease transfer at feeding stations. Birds infected with Trichomonas struggle to eat and will drop food items from their beaks, which are then eaten by healthy birds, hence RSPB no longer sells table feeders #UKBirding

If anyone went around throwing knot-weed seeds or cane toads into the countryside they'd be locked up but it's apparently fine to release thousands of non-native birds into the countryside and destroy any native flora and fauna that might compete with them, because "sport".

Can you help make a mud pie?
First house martins seen back in Suffolk this week !
Apologies for straying off topic but the first House Martins and Swallows are now arriving back & Suffolk is bone dry. If you have an open field then create a mud splat and keep it moist until we have rain. This is a big one in Woolpit @sbghousemartins.bsky.social @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social

The annihilation of great white sharks has led to an increase in seals, etc, and an associated decline in the fish that those species feed on, illustrating the ripple effect of losing a top predator.

When will we learn?

Ecosystems just don't work without top predators.

It’s heartbreaking to watch Tяump betray the Ukrainian people but it is becoming increasingly clear that he keeps tightening the screw on Ukraine because he has no leverage over Putin. His only hope of a deal is to force Ukraine to submit to Russia’s terms. Shameful and dangerous for us all

One of Norway's largest fuel companies just announced that they will no longer refuel US Navy vessels after Trump’s treatment of Zelenskyy.

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

The world has witnessed the most disgraceful political tantrum of all time. Trump is not the leader of the "free world." He is convicted felon who doesn't deserve to be in the same room as President Zelenskyy.
There is no going along to get along with this thug.
Canada needs to stand with Ukraine.

King Charles who loves killing foxes, birds, and badgers has been made Patron of the RSPCA.

King Charles used his power to block a ban on Fox Hunting and to make sure it is the joke ban we currently have.

RT if the RSPCA should remove him.

There will be so many more unless humans do something about it urgently. Even then it will be too late for many. Wildlife crime laws need to be made much stronger & the penalties far more draconian. Current judicial systems do not treat wildlife crime as being serious crime, whatever they say.
Following a new study, it has been recommended that Slender-billed Curlew be declared extinct, putting to bed any hopes that the wader may still exist and marking the first known global bird extinction from mainland Europe: bit.ly/4hMX9qh
