It's been a junk book kind of week.
I have my eye on a beautiful sketchbook I really want (dangers of working in an art store) but I'm trying very hard to exercise discipline for a "one in, one out" kind of art practice.
If I want this new book I gotta motor through this junk book first.

I don't think it's meant to be this challenging - I just don't have a lot of pattern literary or the patience for knitting flat.

I've created this fun little ritual called "You can't play another round of Balatro until you've filled at least 2 junk book pages" and so far it's working out pretty good!

I was done in by some questionable novelty drinks at trivia last night and needed to stay home from work.
I took a little time this afternoon to mess around in my junk book and I viscerally hate it. I feel really sloppy and uncoordinated after so long not drawing at all.

Whoops! Been a little bit behind just prepping for the baby shower. Hard to believe it's in a week!
We got a second-hand picture frame and I repainted it pink and attached some strings.
Guests can write little messages to mum on cards shaped like onesies - then hang them on this washing line.

Took a quick pic of the main continent before bring a few satellite pieces to chip away at while it's slow at work. (So far I kind of hate it?? It's a bit too busy but I'm too deep now, gotta keep going forward.)

Despite having an art degree - I've always been a reluctant and terrible painter!
I forced myself to use some of my watercolours today with the intention of maybe giving these away at the baby shower as prizes?
Also, more satisfyingly, I made another chunk for my epp and organized my ipad files.

I abandoned the truck knit for the moment and dropped it back off at our place so I won't be tempted to work on it while we house-sat.
I had a tension headache today that made it hard to move my neck or head at all - lucky I got this much done!

Kind of stretching the definition of "make" but my sister in law's baby shower is rapidly approaching and apparently I tie the prettiest bows so I was put on decorating duties.

I'm not sure if I'm just hitting a bumpy point in my creative practice or the fact that the last few things I've made have been gifts made from patterns -
but I'm getting kind of exhausted from knitting tbh. Making this truck has been painful. I hate it. It's a chore. I'm feeling really stuck here!

We're house sitting for 2 weeks so I got to make use of our friend's incredible table to finally lay out all 800 of my hexies.
No idea what design I'll be pursuing yet - just happy to look at them all laid out together!

Roland is done and I couldn't be happier (mostly because I'm sick of knitting flat and having to rewrite major parts of this back shell) I misunderstood the "continue as established" step and ended up having to pick open and re-knit the purl part of the ribbing - Oops! Junebug and I for scale.

Missed posting yesterday because I got to the shell and had to frog it 3 times!
I ended up drawing a little diagram to try and figure out what this pattern wanted from me.
Maybe my knitting literacy isn't as good as I thought.

Making some solid progress on the bug belly. This pattern has a really ingenious way of attaching the legs that I'll have to use in my own creatures next.

Got a couple hexies basted today! I've got approximately 600 of these basted and pieced into X shapes. I often feel like I rush into sewing them together and don't give enough thought to the layout or colour schemes (and end up hating it) I'm really taking my time with this one!

It's here! The spike ball! This one has been dubbed "the textured one" since the yarn used for each spike is quite different in texture.
I tried a new method of attaching the last spike this time. Usually I'd cast directly onto the body but this time I made spike #12 separately and sewed it on.
