We found out that the director of FFXIII has a trail of video game franchise bodies behind him. So while I was lambasting Nomura for his writing, apparently it was Motomu Toriyama's fault for the Lightning Saga.

I mean, it's not as bad as all that, but he has a history.

Also, my husband and I have to share a vernacular that would be impenetrable by outsiders. I was trying to explain things and he had to tether the explanations to other things, like focus = grilled cheese or l'Cie turning into a Crystal became Salamander. So Un-Salamander free of the crystal.

I thought it was a trilogy so I kept trying to figure out how the plot would get solved when I was at like 80% (Kindle). Apparently it's been extended to 5 books due to the publisher? Aight. Let's see how it goes.

Not poorly written, but poorly executed on a false promise. Billed itself as a romance, but the romance wasn't... there. Too much about it was beyond suspending disbelief. Ending was bittersweet and felt a little... weird? Not very pleasant.

I ended up marrying that guy. It was just never financially viable to be together until he got a job in Japan.
