“Featherless Biped” not in an esteem for Plato way, but in a Diogenes brandishing a plucked chicken way

357 days a year I have zero interest in jelly donuts, I don’t like filled donuts at all, but then Hanukkah hits and all I want for breakfast every day is sufganiyot

Finally saw Flow tonight, and our cat watched over half of it like this

My mom (not Jewish) asked me (Jewish) if I’m fasting on Yom Kippur and when I said yes she said “me too, I have a colonoscopy on Friday”

My husband and I to our 4 year old niece: “happy birthday!”
Her: “thank you!”
Her 2 year old brother: “thank you!”

it's my in-laws' 35th wedding anniversary and boy oh boy am I grateful for their happy loving laughter-filled relationship because that influence shaped my certified-wife-guy husband who worships the ground I walk on

Guess whose resting heart rate is 47 bpm 😈
I was so proud of my resting heart rate of 52 until I learned marathon runners’ get down to the 30s (new rhr goal: under 50)

In the parking lot after a 10k trail race today a guy said to my husband “oh you got 14th!” as a joke because that was his bib number, but here’s the kicker—MY HUSBAND ACTUALLY DID GET 14TH

He placed 14th out of about 500 people (and 4th in his age group)

It’s so wild to me how, after only a month of running, 7 miles feels easier to me now than 2 used to

Fun fact 1: most of my toenails turned black and fell off after a 20 mile hike in 2023 (Marcy and Skylight)
Fun fact 2: I lost another two the next summer after a hiking trip in Shenandoah
Fun fact 3: guess what familiar feeling I feel now that I’m regularly running kinda far…

My running goal is still distance over speed, but running slow and far is making my short runs so much faster and I’m jazzed.

I’m completely useless and unable to focus when something I’m excited for has shipped. From the moment that shipping label is printed I’m obsessively refreshing the tracking page.

My husband: “can I have fifteen minutes of quiet alone time?”
Me: “yeah I’ll sit in the other room for a bit”
My husband: follows me into the other room and starts chatting

I learned recently that runs I’ve been calling “intervals” are actually “fartleks”

My husband’s a goy, but he loves Passover because of the K for P Coca Cola. He got so excited when he saw that yellow cap at the kosher supermarket last week

Imagine showing up late to a wedding reception just to talk through the (only two!) toasts and not say a single word, not even a halfhearted congrats, to the bride and groom…

Eric’s on the phone with a close friend from college and I just hear him go “I didn’t hear what Gwen just said but I agree with her. I trust Gwen with my LIFE!” And that’s the energy I strive for with all my husbands’ friends.

Not me looking at trail marathons when I haven’t even run a 10k yet
March 13, 2025 at 2:24 AM
When I used to run (sporadically) I’d always go hard and feel like death, usually sprinting the last bit of each mile, and I hated it.
Now that I’ve moved past my mental block of thinking running slow is embarrassing and doesn’t count, I LOVE running at an easy conversation pace for miles at a time.

“We might be in the presence of some Nazi gungans” -best quote so far of the SW5E one shot I’m DMing

My husband has a lot of posters from concerts he’s been to. They’re all framed and hanging around our home, and then there’s our Ketubah (exact same size and shape as the posters) hanging right alongside them

My husband and I both run, but at very different levels of ability - every time he gets home from his runs I ask him how fast we went, and he knows better than to ever ask me the same 🥰

“Relationships are about compromise” yeah compromising on what to have for dinner or letting my husband hang string lights in the living room even though I hate them - not compromising on if you will have children! Not compromising your life goals and future happiness!

Using oat milk in oatmeal feels like it shouldn’t be kosher (goat in its mother’s milk etc etc)
