I love snowy, etherial Montréal at night, and this block of colourful row houses are particularly beautiful. If only everyone had a true and realized right to permanent housing!

Just finished reading Lost Arc Dreaming by @suyidavies.com. I highly recommend it for its good redemption arcs, great dialogue, environmental justice/eco-fiction focus, and its interesting blend of speculative fiction sub-genres.

What are your projects for 2025? I'd like to get two short stories purchased, a full draft of my novel-in-progress done by mid-year, and solid progress made on Unréal, an anthology of Montréal-based SFF I am co-editing. I also hope to see the republication of my debut novel along with its sequel.

Third novel: Zee (available in French and English): Adult and YA story about empathy and its uneven distribution in our society through the metaphor of a kid who can hear the thoughts and feel the emotions of others. #EBookGifts books2read.com/u/bQnNZ6

My second novel, Run J Run: friendship, polyamory, and queer, non-traditional family combined with a mystery and a contemporary urban psychological drama. Content warning for suicidal ideation, child abuse, racialized violence. Dark in parts but also full of hope and light. #EBookGifts (2 of 3)

In honour of Small Press Book day: My first novel, Cycling to Asylum (longlisted for the Sunburst, sequel coming in the spring): activists cycle across the border from near future NY to Montréal to escape a repressive government. Here's where you can get the ebook: books2read.com/u/m2Xex1 (1 or 3.)

Some folks who belong to SFCanada (Canada's National Association of Science Fiction Professionals) have organized an online event to support small press books. On November 30th, people can talk to authors and buy their ebooks. Look for #EBookGifts.

Émilie Laramée, who translated my novel, Cycling to Asylum, into French under the title Les lignes invisibles, has been nominated for the Cole Foundation Translation Prize. She is so talented and hard-working and I am very glad that translators are starting to get more recognition. #SFF #translation

This past weekend was Congrès Boréal, Québec's francophone sci-fi convention, and it was great. I also had the good fortune to attend WorldCon this year and can't wait for Can*Con @canconsffh.bsky.social. So interesting to compare the content, vibes, and structures of these different events! #SFF

Vegetables are miracles! In my urban yet green-ish neighbourhood in Montréal, these tomatoes grew in my backyard, and their colour was totally unexpected. And peppers are growing from pepper seeds that came from actual peppers I had! I mean, wow! Yes, I am a city person who loves nature.

Anyone watching Supacell on Netflix? If so, what do you think of the show? I am enjoying it so far, though have only watched a couple of episodes.

Anyone want to submit an anarchist short story to the latest subversions anthology? It is a non-paying market, but in case you have an anarchist story you'd like to contribute, here's your chance -- en Français or in English.
